Second year members only need to re-audition for principal spots, but not to get back into the orchestra. Currently there are only 2 of us playing our second year. This doesn't mean that there are only 2 spots open though. Last year there were 4 players finishing their two year contracts, but one player won a job and another couldn't return. Even then, one of the audition winners won a job before he began working with Civic.

Yikes! There's a lot of outdated and incorrect information in my earlier post. My apologies. Don't trust everything you read on the internet kids.

Also the stipend is now 6700, but has many opportunities for additional money such as the Rivers Project we're doing with Yo Yo Ma. Alex Hanna just started running our sectionals this year. We've even convinced management to set up some mock auditions for us which is new. Attendance policy is still very strict and makes it difficult to leave for auditions, which is odd as they have a 2 year limit to membership.
