Schools in New York

Hi,
I'm moving from Sweden to New York this autumn and I'm looking for a good school to study classical bass.
Any suggestions?

Thanks
Kristian

NYC?

Try the Manhattan School of Music or Juilliard. At this point application dates are probably closed, or close to it, for the autumn semester. There might be the possibility of exception, considering your situation! Try contacting the bass teachers listed for the schools on their websites.

Suny Purchase (State University of New York) is another option. It is less expensive than Manhattan or Julliard. AND Timothy Cobb teaches there who also teaches at the other two mentioned.

Thank you!
Since I will be living west of the city, I guess it will be easier for me to go to manhattan.

I'll give a plug for Stony Brook University as well (another SUNY school).

I've heard that you don't even need a grade 10 to go to a NYC conservatory, can anyone confirm this?

Where in NY? New York City, or somewhere else in the state? If it's in Western New York (Buffalo, Rochester) I can get you connected!

I always think it's better to find a teacher you like and go wherever they happen to teach.
