Ps. Go to Brevard. Fresh air, beautiful campus, and great music! |

My son was accepted there, and is waiting to hear from Sewanee and the Credo Bass Intensive (Oberlin Conservatory). We're rather new to the world of music festivals. |

Last year there were about 8 basses in the high school division, but There isnt really any small ensemble opportunities unless you form a group yourself. You have a lot more freedom at Brevard when it comes to your schedule, and you have more time to practice vs. a festival like sewanee. The teachers at Brevard are Kevin casseday and Craig brown. I really got a lot out of them because they sort of have the "good cop, bad cop" thing going for them. you can also get a lot out of the college students. There are always bassists hanging out in the hallway of the practice center waiting for a practice room and they're always ready to take questions. |

Ds's teacher favors Brevard with it's great reputation (and having studied there himself) but it seems that Sewanee offers additional classes in composition and conducting, which ds is also interested in studying. We've seen snippets of information on additional classes at Brevard but haven't been able to find anything definitive. |

I was also accepted at Brevard, EMF, rejected at MAW, and waiting to hear from Sewanee.
