Question Idea for Summer Program of Study in Europe?

Any ideas on programs of study in Europe held over the summer? Or...great teachers to catch lessons with?
Or Bass Workshops over there?
My son is a H.S. Senior and is in contention for an award through our school where the money (about $2000) must be used for the study of music in Europe the summer between H.S. and College......and you must put your intentions on the application. So we are trying to figure out some plausible, realistic, places to go, people to meet, workshops, festivals, classes, tour of a bass factory....ideas anyone????
Thanks.

i think Schleswig Holstein is supposed to be a pretty good summer festival although i don't have any personal experience with it. Pacific Music Festival is in Japan, but they get a lot of teachers from European orchestras (Berlin & Vienna to be specific)

Both of these festivals application and audition deadlines have already passed ~!
My son is going to compete for a scholarship (I don't know what his chances are of winning it because there are several very talented students at his school - so it just depends on the flavor of the day and who is "on".) Anyway, the winner receives about $2000 that must be put towards travel to study anything to do with music in Europe the summer between graduation and starting college. (That about covers their plane ticket).
Anyway, on the application to participate in the competition they must state what they would put the prize money toward....so we have to investigate and figure out whats out there that's even possible. It looks like it might have to be visiting an instument factory or something if all the festivals are closed. It would be nice if someone still needed a good bass player!!!!

Try http://www.amsion.ch/e/programme/cours.asp. You can apply until May, I believe. If he'll attend both McTier's and Bokany's classes, that's some well spent week and a half.
