Number 12, 14 and 18 (out of 20) went onto the second round though. I didn't stick around as I had a 11 hour drive ahead of me.
Quebec is a beautiful place in the winter. Great crepe! |

| | | | The three that advanced into the 2nd round were: Theo Chan, Jeff Buchner and Ian Simpson. All Canadians, which is nice to see.
(I was not at the audition) this information was provided through an auditioner that I personally know. |

Wasn't this a national audition and as such only open to Canadians and landed immigrants? |

The first round rep was:
Beethoven 9 - Recits and 2 bars before M to 52 bars after
Brahms 1 - leter E to F
Mozart 40 - the C minor bit of the development and the Eb Major part of the first movement
The Bach cello suite mvt or first mvt (including cadenza) of a concerto of your choice was not part of the first round.
When I did the Orchestra London audition, they asked for the concerto first. At the Montreal audition, they asked only the Bach i the first round and saved the concerto for the 2nd round. The Toronto SO didn't ask for a concerto in the first round, neither did Buffalo. So, whose to say what the magic formula is.
By-the-way, Joe P is a new dad with a boy born yesterday about noon. He left during rehearsal and didn't show up for last night's concert. |
