Yeah, it's cool to have Michael Tilson Thomas as your conductor at Carnegie Hall, but to have play a premiere piece by Tan Dun?
As a trumpet-playing friend of mine pointed out to me, it would have been more enticing as this: "Come play in the Youtube Symphony at Carnegie. On the first night you'll perform Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony, and on the second, you'll perform a piece written by Tan Dun, both conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas."
Much more appealing. |

I'm curious to see the outcome of this orchestra project
