I could be blind and not seeing an option, but I am getting logged out very quickly and it would be nice to have a way to disable that. I often find that I will log in to write a post, and by the time I finish typing my message I am usually logged out. Many forums have a "stay logged in" option somewhere. Can we have one pleeeeez?

When you log in, click the "remember me" box. Also, make sure you're accepting cookies...

I know this thread's been inactive a little while, but I've consistently had a variation on the same problem. I'll log in (clicking the "remember me" box) and start looking through the threads only to find that at some point all of the thread subjects aren't in bold anymore. It's as if I've already read them - which I haven't. I'm using Firefox 2.0 and I have cookies enabled.

Our forum software is set to use "cookie inactivity" as the indicator for marking all as 'read':

Quote:
Inactivity/Cookie Based - once a user has been inactive for a certain amount of time (this value for TB is set at 15 minutes) all threads and forums are considered read. Individual threads are marked as read within a session via cookies.
So if you don't load a page for 15 minutes, then everything will be marked as read...

Hey Paul,

Thanks for the explanation. Now I understand. However, a 15-minute window really isn't a lot. I can easily take that much time composing a message, breaking up a fight between the kids, letting the dog out, or making a sandwich.

I know for myself it would be a BIG help if everything stayed marked as "unread" until I actually logged out of my current session.

This is kind of a big deal for me, as it happens to me frequently and I depend upon that bold type to let me know where I am in the forums. When everything gets reset I usually just give up and log out.

Just my $0.02.

Bill
