"Closed Bids" on Selling Equipment

I have some equipment and I would like to sell it via closed bids. For instance, I would list on Monday, and the highest price (not published) that I get on Friday at a certain deadline will be declared the winner. I would post some sort of disclosures to give the people what the deal is and add some FAQs.

Is this ok?

Personally, I dislike the idea. I had someone offer something up for sale/FT, at an un-named price a while back. I emailed him, and was told to make an offer. I made my offer, and he replied "someone else made about the same offer, do you have another bass to kick in, or perhaps cash?"

While I imagine you aren't planning the exact same thing, it's fishing for the highest buck, and can really tend to upset members.

If you want to sell your gear, cut to the chase and name your price (without playing games) or else, put it on ebay if you want bids.
