| Finding quoted responses to one's own posts, new responses to old threads

I'm not sure how it would all be implemented, but I often wish there was some way I could search for (or be alerted to) new responses to old threads I have posted in. It's beyond tedious to go back and click on every single post I've ever made to see if anything new has been said, especially when there was already more than a full page of responses after my last post but before I last read the thread. And of course the "new threads" button just brings up whatever is most recent, so it's easy to miss a response that occurs while I'm at work or asleep etc.
So there are really two separate tech issues to consider:
1) Is it possible to automatically locate posts that quote my own posts?
2) Is it possible to place a marker on the last post read in a thread, such that it is possible to search on (or automatically locate) that marker? Or better yet a little robot alert that indicates new responses after that marker?
