It flashes? On my systems it's just an animated GIF with what appears to be a subtle fade effect... I wonder if it looks different on your computer, perhaps if your browser handles animated GIF's differently...

I guess my point is that an 'animated' AD to me is unnecessarily distracting and annoying on an otherwise superb site.
