Impossible to search for numbers.

It would be really helpful if we could search for numbers. It's extremely difficult to do a search for seven, eight, or ten string basses because most people describe them as "7 string", "8 string", "10 string", etc. I don't imagine we can make everybody here start using the whole word instead of the number, so it might be nice to expand the search function to include numbers.

I sure would like to be able to find threads about eight string basses, but I come up with a big fat zero. Fooey!

Is using Google the only way to search for shorter terms too? I tried looking up Tech21's new VT Bass effect but VT was too short. There was a thread but I found it by accident on Google. Can you eliminate the minimum character threshold on the search function?

Sorry, two letter words would put too much of a burden on the search index. Again, if you drop the 'search' menu down to "Google Search TalkBass", this does a direct search on the TB Forums, and there are no limits... I just did a search for "tech 21 vt" and it comes up with a number of threads....

If you want to limit the google search results to show posts only, you could add this to the front of your query:

"site:www.talkbass.com/forum/showpost.php"

Though I don't know how effective this would be as I haven't done much testing with it.
