Seriously... GO FIND PORN

Sign in to disble this ad
Chicks with Rics!

THIS is beyond too much. I get incredibly annoyed when guys gather around pictures of chicks and grunt and make apes of themselves. And I'm not even a girl, I can't imagine what the females of this site think of this kind of stuff.

I think we (well at least some of us) are above this. If we can't control our horomones, we should go elsewhere. Seriously, if you want to look at hot girls, the internet is seriously like 80% porn... go to one of those sites.

Any threads that are, "Hot Chicks" or "Hot Babes holding a random bass that they don't know how to play" or "OMG WIKKID BOOBS" should instantly be closed.

Check it out - Ben's avatar has boobs!

Matt - In the case of the thread you are referring to, in my mind, it all turns on whether the girls knew what they were doing when the photo was taken. If I go down to the local park, start taking pictures of girls and post them on TB for you guys to oogle, thats wrong. But, if a girl wants to model with a BASS at a gig from a MEMBER of this forum, knowing that the photo will end up on the web, then I can't see how anyone is hurt. (Provided the comments don't go outside of the forum rules).

Its not in good taste, but it's as appropriate for this site as the "buff guys do gigs" thread and the "Bass babes" threads.

IMO

As stated, if you don't like it, DON'T GO THERE, much less post a bunch of crap to derail it and cause a big mess. There is nothing wrong with that thread IMO, and it violates no rules. After I cleaned up the gigantic mess you made there, I posted to PM me if you have a problem with anything, but yet you chose to whine again and take another dig in the thread.

I need to do some work here at work now, but I am sure this can be taken care of without a bunch of whining. Will address this shortly.

chill out man

listen man i agree with you that maybe it is a little cavemanish and immature to drool over chicks, but that what happens when you got a pair between your legs. yeah so what guys only think with one head at a time, but this girl obviousley isnt being ogled without her full voluntary consent. (and shes quite the lass) if i made some big deal every time i saw a stupid post i would get kicked off this site (already got kicked off guitarlodge for that) if i owned this site and put as much time into it as mr cole i would have at least suspended your membership for all the extra work. your entitled to your opinion but if its going to cause a bunch of ruckus its better kept to yourself.

Maybe I'm completely missing something... but with the exception of one picture, it's a thread of women that are completely clothed that are holding basses. Not only that, but it is a member that is taking pictures of his fully clothed fans holding his bass.

I think that it might be a little hasty to compare it to porn...

My gigantic mess, as you put it, was about 3 posts one of them including a random shirtless man. I don't consider that a "big mess."

Re: Don't go there: The problem is, it exsists. Imagine if you will Talkbass as a giant office building. What that thread is, a group of guys standing in the corner and making comments on the hotness of women. If Talkbass was "the real world" that would be considered sexual harrasment, and the Talkbass "employees" would instantly be fired. Now this isn't a job, but the fact that these people can take their horomones elsewhere.

Your three posts caused a whole page worth of arguing and complaining, which had to be deleted. You know what? This ISN'T an office building, most of us come here to get away from that crap. And, if the women posed in the corner showing off their hotness, that is hardly harassment by any means when they agree to. The people in the thread agreed to pose to the pics. As said before, the rules here are if it is okay for network TV, it is probably okay here. The thread breaks no rules, and there is no reason to pull this kind of garbage. Go start a shirtless meathead thread if you want, I don't think anyone would care. I wouldn't care, but I sure wouldn't be visiting it just to whine like a baby and make messes. The ONLY posts reported in that whole entire thread, were yours....imagine that.

What is it with talkbass lately? Matt, you have been around long enough to know how to handle complaints, but apparently I have to remind you....this isn't one of them. It's a lot more than other members would be getting away with, I have a good feeling. This aint personal, this aint about you OR me....so stop trying to make it so. Sending this one to Paul for his input.

And PS, I am real disappointed you "expected more from me"

It's NOT an office. It is a public forum.

I think it would be wise for you to either lighten up or go away.

You are not the only one with an opinion or the only opinion. If you need a cause to defend become a lobbyist in Washington D.C.

Lighten up, please.

:-)

Joe.

I'm pretty sure that here at TB we are as, if not more, sensitive to women's issues as any other forum that has a 99.9% male participation rate.

So quit ya PMS'n Till!

I must say that I agree entirely with Matt and the "lowest common denominator" thing is something I have complained about myself many times in the past - but have given up now and I just ignore this kind of thing.

But I still feel we should be better than this....

So - what message does this kind of thing send to any female bass players new to this forum...? To me it screams out - this is a male-dominated environment and you're not welcome here except as a source of titillation....

To me , it is like dogs marking their territory - this is our space and you keep out!

In the "real world" I have met many female bass players and musicians, talked to them about music, swapped ideas etc. - but they don't get involved in internet forums and frankly, I would be ashamed if they thought I was involved in something like the threads Matt mentions !!

To me this kind of thing shows an inadequacy, a blinkered way of looking at people entirely in relation to how you can get your jollies - rather than enriching your life with different points of view and perspectives on music ...

I think it's sad...but most of those concerned will grow out of it....

Matt, you seriously need to chill out. I think you're almost totally alone in your objections, if you've noticed.

You know, all these other topics where people always say "If you dont have anything constructive/good to say then skip the thread"............

Totally applies here... it ain't porn...it's good looking people, who just happen to be of the female persuasion...

Man if this is all you got to worry and concern yourself with then buy a vowel and grab a clue. There's nothing wrong with it in my book.

Closed. If you have a problem with a thread, report it to the moderator(s) of that forum. If you don't get a satifactory response from the moderator, please contact me. Don't try to close down a thread by posting inside it...

Please do not use this forum to bring up specific thread complaints. If you would like to suggest a general policy of less tolerance for these kinds of threads, by all means post it here.
