Should the font [size] option be disabled in posts (forcing uniform text size)?

Is there an option or could there be created an option to ignore things like variable font sizes and colours in posts? So that when you are viewing threads, the text all appears to be the same size and colour with only bold / italics as formatting options?

Only way to do this is to take away the [size] bbcode forum-wide. I added a poll to this thread to see if this is where we want to go...

Personally I don't think it should be removed forum wide, because some people obviously see some benefit in it, but I was hoping that it could be disabled for those who don't want to have to read "big fonts" in posts - sort of like having the sigs turned off.

I don't think it should be disabled for everyone, as it is occasionally a very useful thing. However, those people who are doing all of their posting in the largest possible font are creating an annoying eyesore and should be encouraged to stop, IMO.

Ok ok ok...first font size then what? Put a limit on how many posts a person can do in a day? Then put a limit on how many syllables are allowed in a post?? After that we can all join the KGB and drink the RU-21 so we can still oppress people while not getting hangovers...mmm, real fun!!

Seriously...my time I've spent here has been pleasant. I've rarely annoyed anybody, throwing out big font day, where...I'd like to add...was merely ONE DAY. Let us not forget the number of humans who log in on a DAILY basis and are constantly trolling/annoying people/and are in general....just....ppffffttt.... !

Seriously...it was 1 day. An exercise in freedom, so to speak, that I have not abused and do not condone the abuse of...

To quote my comrade...

"Remain calm folks, apparently it was only big text."

If as many people became as outraged at what's going on in this WORLD ...you know, like the actual reality that happens while everyone's on TalkBass...the earth would be in a much better state of affairs....

cheers

edit: I mean really..."uniform text"...so we're all "speaking" in monotones like whatshisface on the Clear Eyes commercials. One day....just one day...

I voted no. Who cares if some want to use big fonts once in awhile to get a good laugh? Are you all that strung up?

Yeah, dump it. When you guys are done, you can pay Paul to have a "Mission Accomplished" banner up for a few days.

Wow. I've never felt like such a communist (...so far this morning anyway). Dude I had no idea it was just a one day thing for you. And with such an articulate use of font in your above post, you're clearly a layout artist when you need to be.

Your passionate, moving bid for democracy and avoiding the slippery slope of censorship makes me want to take back my vote Perhaps I've selfishly funneled my anger and frustration about real problems (world hunger, the iraq war, britney spears....), into your use of big fonts, and for that I apologize.

If someone always posted in BIG ALL CAPS they should be called out, and hung. But just a one day thing for a laugh, I have nothing against that.

Well - when you set up your own site and pay for all of its upkeep - then you can decide what appears!

As it is - we are all indebted to Paul for keeping this site going and the spirit of inclusiveness that he maintains!

I always abide by Paul's rules and guidelines and have never posted anything that breaks the stated rules!

I challenge you to find anything in my posts that breaks one rule as stated !!

Come on - as they say :" put up or shut up"....

How do you know how much Paul drops for this website? Maybe he actually makes a few bucks with all the memberships, ever thought of that one?

If this is on a 100mbit server, you can easily get by paying 50 bucks a month for it. There are probably a few hundreds of supporting members, lets say that there are 500 of them at 20 bucks a pop to be fair, 10000 bucks right there, at 50 bucks a month thats 200 months of hosting paid, so I'd say Paul's good for at least the next 10 years

Ah, you can btw easily triple that number, as memberships need renewal every year

And I understand that completely...which is why I supported. And I have yet to break any of the guidelines...on purpose(except on big font day, I had a little too much coffee and got excited about this one thread but...nobody's perfect).

I don't feel as though any of the guidelines were broken.

They technically weren't but you be the judge...last 2 posts.

Well...after searching, apparently the thread was deleted(on BFD)and the posts were removed. It was nothing that hadn't been on TalkBass before...it was just larger.

cheers

I have seen non-issues become issues before (this is, after all, the intarweb), but this whole Big Font Ruined TalBass thing absolutely takes the cake.

Are some of you people really so bored you need to rally around such an imaginary "cause" as this?

EDIT: For clarity.

Is everybody else so bored they need to rally around to scream and complain at such an "imaginary cause" as this?
