Talkbass Member CD Vol. I
Talkbass Member CD Vol. II
...etc.

Durrl has enough material to produce one for the DB side already. I'm sure we can get something together for BG.

Maybe just 3 genres.
Only 3 genres...that will cause some heartburn about which 3. Distribution...if we could get enough responsible, dedicated people from diffrent parts of the globe...which we have im pretty sure, we could get some pretty good global coverage...

I must also disagree with the 3-genre limit. Instead, why not let those within each genre produce their own CDs? For example (hypothetically); jazzbo, DURRL, Ed and others might put their heads together to make the TB Jazz CD, Volume I.

I dunno, just a thought.

Maybe I was defining "genres" differently. I always considered "rock" a genre. Pretty inclusive. But, I don't see why we can't have as much as we can handle.

So, where does everything stand right now?

im gonna go way out on a limb here at the risk of sounding selfish or even like an *******.

Alot of musicians here are trying to make money with their music. Some may not like the idea of putting something on a cd to be sold and not seeing any part of the procedes.

just another thought to add to the mix that maybe nobody thought of.

so dont flame me

I think that's why if this project somehow gets off the ground, it'll have to be a volunteer effort on everyone's behalf. I'm willing to submit a track without any profits. Just getting my music out is good enough for me at this point. I'm sure most everyone else who wants to be involved would agree on this.

If some sort of compensation really needs to be made after a certain profit margin is made by TalkBass, maybe supporting members upgrades could be given to those who were involved in the making of the CD. Just a thought.

So, that's fine. But I think the overwhelming majority would rather do something for Talkbass, and get free exposure.

I was making the assumption that we'd set up an account for each genera to make it much easier in making the cd's

I will happily submit one of my bands songs in either wav or mp3 format :P (the one on mp3. com are poor quality and out dated). I do know a lot of CD replicating places, but they typically want a minimum order, and there could be copyright problems. I know of places like shortrun music that replicate on CDR or places like AMI that do full scale real CDs.

another option, could be to have some TBers volunteer to "make" the CDs on their computers and then have someone else make covers and compile them all, but that would be a lot of work for some TBers, depending on the interest.
