Using Wildcards in the Search Functions?

Sign in to disble this ad
One of the few things that bugs me here is that we can't use wildcards (*) in searches. Is there a specific reason for this? It just seems like it would be useful when you're looking for something that could have an "s" at the end for example and the search would miss it otherwise.

We're limited by the forum software, but even more limited by MySQL (database engine). I'm exploring a different search technology, but it's not looking very promising.
