Very SMALL idea...(please don't stone me)

I was thinking about the supporting member price...it it is reduced(not alot) to like $15, i think that more people may start to support....i kno that 20 bucks is cheap for 1 year, ut i wonder how many MORE people will support if a change is made in the price...

again...its just a little idea...no one get mad at me please...

Kudos for your concern!!!

It could work if the older members didn't feel "sold out."

If those who already had paid $20 (or more) had their memberships extended for 3 months ($5 = quarter of a year) when a $15 fee went into effect, that might work. It would offset any inequity with those who would be getting full-year memberships for 5 bucks less.

i don't think there would be much more supporters if the fee was lowered. I think the main hassle (even though it isn't much of one) is sending the money. I could see how $50 vs. $20 would be a change, but not $20 vs. $15. On the other hand, supporting members can always donate more.

Yeah, I'm sure that almost everyone that uses this site can come up with $20 bucks, the problem is finding the means to send the money. Like people that don't live here in America have a tough time, as do younger teens that don't have access to checks or the sort ("Mom I need you to write me a $20 dollar check to an internet site........no its not porn related").

So $20 bucks (imo) is really no different than $5 bucks or $30 bucks.

$20 bucks is good for me. It's a nice crisp, single bill. Why make it more difficult for people? I do money orders, and thats great for me because its more accessible than credit card or checks for me.

i mean, I spent like $40 on a jazz event last night (ticket, t-shirt and 2 cds)... and my wallet isn't any thinner...

when I sent my money, I had to go to the bank, get a check (which costs like $5 + the $20

) and then send it to Talkbass. And always not being sure if it will reach it destination.

I would've bought something from the gear shop if it wasn't so much hazzle.

keep the price at $20, that's my 2 kr.

but to rickbass, I wouldn't feel sold out... I could say to new supporting members: "I gave talkbass $20... you only gave $15! I'm better than you!"

Actually before we had the merchandise section, $60 IIRC would get you a Talbass T-shirt. But now that we have the merch section, a good incentive would be something like donate $40 and get your choice of one article of clothing (hats and T-shirts and the such)and a mug or a mouse pad or something? I dunno, its a bit late for me to be thinking to much, you guys come up with a better idea for me...
