Okay, I have seen tons of videos on youtube of people playing 'Darling Dear', and not so many videos of people playing 'For once in my life.' Regardless, I was wondering if somebody could send me a private message or email (xrobofighterg49@yahoo.com), Darling Dear by the Jackson 5 (Jamerson on bass of course) and For once in my life by Stevie Wonder (once again James Jamerson's bass line). I know 'For once in my life' is on guitar pro, though my trial has ended and I do not want to pay for it. As for 'Darling Dear' I can not find any tabs whatsoever. I have tried to play them both by ear, though I have unfortunately failed, which leaves me here. Thanks to anyone who responds. |

| | | Damn shame. I can read the bass clef as well as a dog can speak the English language. I used to play the saxophone so my entire mindset with non-tab sheet music is in the treble clef. I can read little of the bass clef but I doubt it's enough to comprehend any Jamerson bassline. Thanks for the suggestion though. |

You can get b lank paper for this here.

So, after playing one too many clubs, I decided to go back to school & study jazz. I had good chops and a basic knowledge of jazz and could easily read chord charts, so I managed to get in. But the first day, I had to play bass for the big band. Somehow I made it through, luckily, because the tunes were easy, i could at least read the rhythm patterns and the bass charts had chords. But, man, was I sweating!
But I forced myself to learn bass clef, by mentally adding one line to the bass clef, thereby moving "G" from the bottom line to the second, where it is on the treble clef. I got desperate enough to copy the charts and take a ruler to them and draw in that extra line. Try it. I think you can pick it up.
BTW, every Bass player should get "Standing in the Shadows" book and study the heck out of it. It is a two year bass education right there. Figure out why James did all that in "For one once in my life" and you'll know the heart of Motown.
