Accuracy of "official" transcriptions

Hi,

I'm currently bemused at the official authorised transcript of Voodoo Child (slight return) off the Electric Lady album by Jimi Hendrix... I cannot possibly see how a transcription could have been done as it is impossible to pick a bassline out from the mix... there's just a continuous rumble in there.

I've given up trying to play the "official" bassline here and have instead concentrated on what I feel gives the correct feel for the track...

In fact, for a lot of Hendrix tracks, I've stopped trying to play note for note to the record and just concentrate on making things sound like the live performances... which were amazingly varied...

While TABs can be very useful, the majority of them are so way off it isn't funny.

Even the official transcriptions and "as recorded" books have some mistakes in the TABs. I don't know if they are listening to the records to transcribe the songs, or have access to the master tapes or what, but there are plenty of mistakes in them.
