Anybody know of any good songs - both lyrically and musically (bass-wise, anyway) in the Christian worship and/or rock genre?
I also am just starting to learn to tap a bit for the heck of it, so if anybody knows any songs with some tap pieces in them that'd be sweet too, but I doubt it.
The only songs I know are:
-Matt Redman - Dancing Generation
-Run Kid Run - Modern March (I tabbed it on UG :])
-Hillsong United - Take It All
-Switchfoot - Meant To Live
I've got on my list to work on and learn the following:
-Hillsong United - Tell The World, Salvation is here, All Day, and prob. a bunch more (can you tell I like them a lot? )
-Pillar - Frontline
-Switchfoot - Stars
Also, this is extremely off-topic, but I might as well ask anyway - If you make a tab on Ultimate Guitar and it gets approved, is there anyway to edit it after that? Thanks all |

This is the best vid I could find on YouTube of the song. It's not WaterMark and you can't hear the bass the way I would like to be able to, but it's still cool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5_2z1aDd20

| | Guest Friend and Endorsee of Larry | | | | although not quite for the Sunday morning set, Mute Math have some great bass parts. also, try to find Ten Shekel Shirt, i believe they did 2 CDs, some fun pop/rock lines there and 'Sunday morning' apropos. |

| | | | +1 to the Mute Math, their bass player is awesome. Their live cds are amazing they are a band that knows how to jam on stage. I hear their newest cd has a song based on the bass player using his 12 string bass.
I say if you want to learn some challenging worship stuff stick with Hillsong, the bass lines are all great, salvation is here is a great one to get speed and accuracy up. |

I play the main riff for "Tell the World" on just the A string since it has a smoother sound with the slides. The bridge is very open and allows you to embellish a little. "Salvation is Here" is the one song that I really need to pactice hard since I still haven't mastered the solo part.
More Hillsong songs worth learning for bass:
- Follow the Son
- Break Free
- Intro/The Time Has Come
- Solution
- My Future Decided
- Hosanna
- Lead Me to the Cross
The first five are faster songs that are all around fun to play and good for developing general skills. "Hosanna" is deceptively simple. It's actually played pretty fast and the bass is more active than most people think. "Lead Me to the Cross" is good for timing since there's a lot of space between notes/riffs.
I'm not sure on tapping songs since I haven't seen many bassists in general, let alone worship bassists, tap. But technically you can tap anything. Maybe try and throw in some tapping in songs that you already know? |

| | | | Thanks everybody!
I'll be sure to check out Mute Math and Ten Shekel Shirt, and also that song from Aaron Shust. I've never heard that song.
I am already wildly into Hillsongs. They are my favorite =]. Salvation is here, Solution, Break free, Tell the world, what the world will never take, all day - there are a TON of great sounding bass-wise (and all around) songs from them.
As for the idea of just trying to tap a song I already know...Any suggestions on how to go about doing that? Like, should I just flat out play the regular bassline (except, 12 frets up -- much easier to play/sounds better imo)? Or should I change it up somehow? If so, how? By the way, I had Dancing Generation in mind for this ^.
Thanks again guys. |

| | | | Look up Jars of Clay. Their self-titled debut has some great songs. Faith Like A Child is a great one for a couple rhythm guitars, bass, and two or three solo instruments (they recorded a violin and two penny whistles, but two violins or lead guitars works too).
The difficulty with a lot of JoC stuff is that to really cover it you need the extra instruments. I believe the group has six members and all of them play at least two instruments; they switch off on violin, cello, mandolin, bass, guitar, whistles, flutes, clarinets, oboes, etc. as the song requires. JoC also uses a lot of alternate tunings on their guitars, like EADGDG, detuned, etc, and it's difficult to get the same sound (or even hit some of the chords) in standard. However, the stuff they do in G, like Faith Like A Child, is usually pretty easy to cover in standard tunings all around. |

Pillar, yeah they're on my to-do list.
Chris Tomlin - I know Dancing Gen. Maybe sometime down the road, I'll learn something else.
Anybody have the tabs for Falling Up - Symmetry? Or anybody know any sites with a lot of Christian bass tabs? |

| | | | New to this forum, glad to find this thread.
Been googling for the bass tab for Rain Down By Delirious, no hit, decided to tab it myself but just managed to get the first few notes after the beginning riff.
Got the bridge and the chorus, anyone here has the bass tab for this song?
I like the bass for History Maker, managed to tab that.
Hope someone here can help.
