Right i have been playing bass for about three years now and for some reason i have never really been able to find some proper up beat funk songs or lines to practice and play. Can any one send me in the right direction of some proper funk please!

Just a word of warning - funk is all about a "rhythmic feel" -which is exactly what Tab doesn't show you!

Is that an anti tab comment I smell.

Bruce makes a good point, in a sense. Tabs don't show rhythmic feel, BUT, he's not asking for original composition. He's looking for the tabs to a song that he can listen to and check out a tab to, so he doesn't need to know the feel, just where to place his fingers so he can play along, the recording provides the feel (end thread derailment)

(on topic)

Check out some recordings by Stevie Wonder, Sly and The Family Stone, The Meters, Jamariquoi (sp?), Parliament/Funkadellic, Bootsy Collins, Robert Randolph and The Family Band, etc. There are threads about funk recordings in recordings, do a search. Then just search for tabs for them.

The bands that Figjam listed are funky, but they are more funk fused with rock/metal... which I dig more.
