Hard to Handle - Black Crowes

The intro riff in the Black Crowes version of Hard to Handle, which way is this played?

Choice A:
B B Eb E Gb E D E D B

or

Choice B:
B B D E Gb E D E D B?

Either I am hearing it wrong or every single version I have seen tabbed or seen played locally is wrong... so which is it?

Dang. I always played choice B but figured I'd check before making a fool o myself, and I'll be doggoned! What they're playing there is an Eb to the best of my hearin ability.

choice A.

That intro figure has a major scale structure going up, and a blues scale structure going down. In the blues idiom, major and minor thirds are used in ways that defy traditional music theory.

Short answer? Choice A

They play one the first time through and the other the rest of the time, not sure why.
