| | | | this thread should be kept alive.
there should be a book of "What's going on", the entire album.
i'd love to have tab for nils lofgren's "keith don't go", whoever that bass player is, he's playing his butt off on that. |

Between Ready Freddie Washington, Jimmy Haslip, David Washington and Neil Stubenhaus there's everything you would want to know about how to play behind a soul singer on that one. "Sweet Love" and "Same Ole Love" give me goosebumps to this day, hell they're all great songs!

| | | | i keep forgetting to add on this thread: could you guys please publish "what duck done" with tablature? somebody needs to bring it back. |
12-12-2012, 09:11 AM
| | | | Duck done with tab would be awesome, some of those songs have so many flats it screws up my reading. I can read keys without 3-4 flats/sharps, but the E flat key is a PIMA. |

I have pretty much all the Queen books out, but have yet to find one with the music for Dragon Attack, Invisible Man, or Millionairre's Waltz. I have the guitar score for Deep Purple's Stormbringer, better than nothing but would be nice to have a transcription of some kind for bass. Same for Blue Oyster Cult, especially Godzilla (main bass line pretty easy to pick out, but some of the fancier fills here and there are hard to pick out.) it has been years since I have seen any transcription books for the Moody Blues, and none with bass lines. And as far as I know there are no transcription books at all for Hiroshima.

| | | | this thread has come to the bottom of the page, don't let it die! keep putting requests here, cause they seem to be looking...
to hal leonard, there's something i want to make you guys aware of. i've bought your "contemporary praise and worship" book/cd and also the "country" bass playalong set. as you know, these cd's have "with bass" and "without bass" tracks on the cd's. on both of these, i can't really hear the bass. (i don't own a stereo with a balance from speaker to speaker function, if you know what i mean) it seems to me that when you make a cd for bass players, you ought to bring the bass up more in the mix.
i noticed earlier in the thread some folks were questioning the selection of a zz top tab book. i know what they mean, that zz top is rudimentary no one should need a book, but i'll point out that that book would be very useful to someone just starting to play. |

02-28-2013, 08:25 AM
| | | | there ought to be a bass tab book for "uriah heep live 1973". if i could play Gary Thain's lines from "sweet lorraine" i'd think i was king of the bass. |
03-01-2013, 06:25 AM
| | | | Unfortunately ,I have been watching Hal Leonard's site and they haven't put out a SINGLE new bass book of anykind in 2013 so far, that isn't a compilation of already done songs.
Come on guys where are these books you said were coming like Sly and The Family Stone??? |
03-01-2013, 10:49 PM
| | | | i don't know, maybe they'll release to coincide with tax returns or something. i'm looking for the Sly book too, cause my hand just swithced on the "slap function" recently. out of the blue, i started playing slap bass. surprised the heck out of me.
meanwhile, it has occurred to me Why Are There No Books for ELP? seems like there ought to be a collection or something. |

IIRC, his influence on that line was hearing early Jaco.

| | | | I would just like to see basslines in some of the current books. I have a few books that just have the melody written in bass clef. That's not helping.
