So I just picked up my bass after a few years of not playing and find that I really can't put it down. Problem is that all the songs I play are for my band and generally boring for the bass. Can someone email me tabs to good songs, good walks and anything I can amaze people with while playing by myself? Thanks bass bros

What songs do you play in your band? Maybe we can suggest some songs that would fit in with those that are a bit more interesting.

To amaze people, try some Vic Wooten solo's (his thumbing blows me away) or get on one of those 11 string monsters and double hand tap a Nintendo tune or some nice cross-melody "classical" bass music I've seen some YouTubes of some guys at shows doing that. 2 guys, 22 or 26 strings between them!

And sorry man but I just had to quote that comment out of context, it's just hilarious...

We play pretty much everything. Metallica, danzig, sublime, pumpkins, sound garden. I'm looking for more challenging music. Anyone able to hook me up?

How about making the songs that you play a little more fun for you? Tasteful fills, lead changes etc. If you want to wow people with you're playing (if you're alone), try learing the melodies to some of those songs instead of just the bassline. You'll be a better musician for it, and it will pull you "out of the box".

Is that everything?

From that list, I'd recommend you check out some Garbage - Why Do You Love Me?. Stupid Girl. Only Happy When It Rains, etc.

Crazy Little Thing Called Love may keep you busy too there's a tough tab to get your head around at first, and it's under the scope of pretty much everything to.

PM your email address so I know to start flooding your inbox with my cool tabs buddy
