I Only Wanna Be with You - The Tourists

Hey everyone,

I am very new to this and learning bass, whilst trying to play in a band.

We want to do The Tourists version of I Only Wanna Be With You, and I am trying to work out the bassline.
It appears very simple and as far as I can hear the bass is only playing root note, but this surely can't be the case. The video of the original is on YouTube.

Could anyone advise / help?

I'm not looking for a TAB, just a word or advice as to whether I am right or not.
