J.S Bach for bass

Sign in to disble this ad
I puchased a book+cd from amazon J.S Bach for bass by Josquin des pres.

These are the songs on the cd played on a bass only:

prelude#1 in c maj
suite #1 in g maj
suite #2 in d min
suite #2 in d minor [courrente]
suite #3 in c maj

partita #1 in b min
partita #2 in d min
partita #3 in E maj
sonata #1 in g minor
sonata #3 in c major

I know very little about classical music so are there compliations I can purchase these original works on? is the above a whole album of work per se?

Thanks

There are MIDI versions of most of those at:
http://www.jsbach.net/midi/index.html

and complete bass versions of Partita No. 2 and Sonata No. 1 at:

and video at:

Let's not forget Grueber's very nice versions of two of the Bach Inventions at:

The E minor bourée is doable on a 4 string , both voices.

suite #1 in g maj is featured on the "Master and Commander" soundtrack. Great piece - took me about a month to learn.

Yes, I'm a noob.

For the Cello suites, seek out the Deutsche Grammafon recording with Pierre Fournier - more sublime than a sublime thing in a bag marked "sublime".
