I "repaired" a GuitarPro file that someone else did. I would say that I changed about 95% of it! The original version didn't even have the ending.
The original version did have triplet quarter notes. If you listen to the guitar intro, it's definitely triplet quarter notes. But the bass line is a little different. It's like he plays the first note a little shorter and leans into the second note. During the first verse, it's like he is somewhere between what the guitar player is doing and what the drummer is doing with the kick drum. You can really hear it during the first guitar solo and second verse. I may be wrong!

But, to me, this seems to groove a little more like the song:
At first I thought that maybe the triplets were spanning across the two bars. But to me it sounds like the 3rd note is squarely on beat 1.
