learning bass tabs

hi all

newbie here,, im hopeing someone can direct me to a easy to learn bass tab online site..

i want to practise learning various band songs ,, but aint got a clue how to read bass tabs,,

ie , what do the numbers relate to and were on the fret are they in relation to.. etc

cheers any help will be much apprec

MXtabs.net has a walkthrough on how to read tabs.

Here's the link... Tab help

The numbers are the frets, with 0 being the open note.

G --------
D --------
A --------
E -0-1-2-3

So, the tab ^ is chromatic.

Open E, 1st fret, 2nd fret, 3rd fret.

And of course the obligatory warning. 99% of all tabs on the net are wrong. Some are so wrong they obviously where not listening to the same song Don't ask me why, I don't know

I find that looking up chords is *much* more useful.
