MERCY ME - HOLD FAST

Sign in to disble this ad
This may not be the right forum section to put this in, but I will try anyways

Has anyone figured out how the bass player for Mercy Me gets his sound on "Hold Fast"? I know he only uses Jazz basses so I know that has something to do with it, but the sound is REALLY growly and almost gritty......

I have a DJ4 (with J retro) and cannot seem to get anywhere near the sound he gets in that song.....would love to find out if anyone has a clue.......

thanks!

I checked their website and he shows and Ashdown amp and an EH Octave multiplier pedal on his pedal board.

K - thanks...I saw the same thing...you think it is the EH Octave multiplier pedal creating that sound? I beleive he goees direct for recording (not positive but assuming) so I am not sure if the Ashdown will be an issue....I am not familiar with an Octave multiplier....maybe I will have to check it out...

I've heard the song before, but i don't know how he gets his tone.
I know zero about the EH pedal. i don't know if it contributes any gritty growl.

I wonder if there was any way to contact him through the website?

A co-worker called me that for some reason....among other things. It just stuck. I hate making up user names and passwords, so i just used that.

At least there is a reason....I found a generic e-mail address on the Mercy Me web site...send in a note...we will see if anyone responds...
