Hi,
An old friend of mine wants to put together a band, and I might become the bassist (but I have to practise some tabs from the genre he wants to play first). He told me that they're going to start off playing Nine Inch Nails, Tool and Deftones songs. I need to practise some songs from them. I'm don't really know these bands or their songs too well, so I need some help in choosing songs from them to practise.
So, what are some good songs from those bands that have an interesting bass part to play?
Thanks
EDIT -- I talked to my friend again, and he said they're also going to do some Marilyn Manson songs.... I don't know any music by Manson... (again)

Deftones - My Own Summer, Change (got a nice flowing bassline).
And for Tool - Sober. I don't own very much but this has a good bassline.

| | | Thanks, are there any other NIN, Deftones or Tool songs I should be looking out for?
And are there other bands with a similar genre with good bass lines that I could get some tabs from?
Thanks again |

| | | | If you get an overdrive pedal you can play "The Hand That Feeds" by NIN. |

Deftones: the intro to One Weak is real catchy

It sounds very very very ... very very difficult, but really, it's not.
I nailed the intro after 5 minutes when I sat down and really went into it.
"Disposition" is also a cool one, it's very easy but it's also very impressive.
"Forty Six & 2" - awesome. The main riff is **** easy too, and sounds very cool.
Alot of Tool's songs sound very dynamic and irregular, but really, some parts go through the whole song on many occasions. |

For NIN, I hope you guys have a synthesizer/workstation... My band is going to start playing Closer but we've got it almost all the way sequenced on our Roland Fantom X6... we also play The Hand That Feeds, I use overdrive for the bass part, and on the Synth Solo in the middle I play it on the top 2 strings around the 12th fret, with overdrive and phaser on.

It takes a lot of effects, though. |

well it IS an awesome track, i love playing it too
but u dont need that many effects, just delay and whammy, should run u about ~$300 for the whammy IV and a delay pedal, i use the bass whammy myself

Also, you cannot play Disposition on a whammy 4 it does not have the proper setting (5th up/1up harmony)
Some guy on youtube did this video....what a bastard.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irDZqxaAqHE
