Paint it black

I can't figure out what the bass is doing in Paint It Black. The chorus part is fine, but during the verse, I just can't hear it. I've been playing really fast Es and Bs, which sounds ok, but I'd like to get a better grasp on what's actually going on.

Too me it sounds like he's going
(E) e-e-b-e--e-b-e-e-e-b-e--e-b-e
and then (B) b-f#-b-f#-b-g-b-#f-b-f#-b-f#-b-g-b-#f

Then towards the end with the slidey part...which i don't play

(E) e-e-b-e--e-b-e-e-e-b-e--e-b-e
(B) b-f#/ f#\ b-f#/ f#\ b-f#/ f#\ b-f#/ f#\ (i think)
