Is there a chance to find / buy a complete electric bass score for the musical soundtrack Pippin?

Thank you for the help.

That's totally bizarre - never heard of it before - but this plot summary sounds like a parody or something :

"Pippin is a prince, looking for something to do with his life. He becomes a soldier for his father's army, but soon finds his dislikes war. His grandmother then tells him to start living. Pippin is upset that his father is killing thousands in war, and murders him. "

Oh yeah that makes perfect sense!! It feels like it's from another universe than ours....

It's a famous play from the '70s starring the late, great Ben Vereen. The music was pretty cool too.

That was the worst plot synopsis I have ever read.

Not that famous - I was at college in the late 70s studying American Literature and I never heard of it....

And the plot sounds truly awful!

Check with the Samuel French company. They have the rental rights for the scores to a lot of shows. I think that's where they got the music when the Thespians did it at Penn State in the early 90's. Some decent tunes in the show, and I only have the piano/vocal highlights book. For full score or individual parts, you may be able to get a perusal copy from them, but more likely you'll have to pay for the full show rental to get your hands on them ($1500 for Grease when we did it where I teach about 8 years ago)

They have a section for musical theatre in yer lit course there ROGER?

The closest thing to a tune in there was CORNER OF THE SKY, but I've only had that called on me once (and that was a million years ago). BARROSO - just curious, you doing the show and looking for a head's up on your part? Be prepared and all that, but I don't recall the part being that hard to sight read. I did it with a regional/local theater when I was still living in Georgia; we had a couple of pit band only rehearsals, but that was mostly cause the MD had to parse down the full score to fit the instrumentation we had (which was still a little shy from the reduction that was available).

Well, just because you weren't up on your Broadway hits in college doesn't mean it wasn't well-known. But yes, that synopsis is really bad. The play is actually much better than that description.

Well I am just surprised it never made it over here - I see all those mentions are for your side of the pond only!!

London's West End usually picks up all the shows and I used to work round the corner from Shaftesbury Avenue, which is "Theatre-Land" ...?

"The show opened at Her Maajesty's Theatre on October 30, 1973 and ran for 85 performances. Bob Fossee again was director and choreographer."

In 1973 I was too young to be aware of this kind of thing..

If it was so good - how come it hasn't been back in 35 years!! ??
