Anyone know where I can get a correct TAB, or a transcription, for Jimi Hendrix's version of Red House?

Nowhere... that is if ur thinking of the album version. I heard from a radio DJ that Noel used a guitar with only the four bottom strings to play the "bass part". And if u listen closely it is the typical 12 bar blues rhythm. So I guess you can play that if u have the reach.

You be better off probably watching Hendrix play that on the Woodstock DVD and try to hear/see what Billy Cox did with the song.

it's pretty simple, it's just a walking bass, im guessing its A, to D, then E, or whatever key you're band ar doing it in (it's just a standard I IV V chord progression).

It's a I IV V with the quick 4 change on bar 2
Bb on the original studio recording.

Here's a cool live version w/ the original group. Notice Noel's bass is super fuzzy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TZeCntatHQ

theres a book on the market of scores for red house covering all or most of jh's live recorded versions but unless you need the guitar and drum parts prolly not the most cost effective route

Check this out, it has the full transcriptions for the album with drum/guitar/bass tab and notation. The Red house has no bass tab, just rhythm guitar with tone altered.

Noel Redding indeed played a version of Red House on a guitar, tuned like a bass. That version was released on the Are You Experienced? album in the US.

The European version of the album had him playing a traditional bass.

Yeah. I started it way back in Feb. I figured it could use a little updating.

There was no bass on the original recording, the bass was played on the lower 4 strings of the guitar. In my opinion, it was a pretty lame effort at bass playing. I like to play it like I play 3 O'Clock Blue. I can send you a chart if you like.
