Request: Honeycone- Want Ads

Awesome bass line that I would love to learn but I struggle playing by ear. Can anyone help me locate notation or tab?

happy to see someone else who appreciates this track.

the part i struggle with the most is the lead into chorus:
"lipstick on his collar, perfume on it too..." and so on.

me playing the chorus is a stretch at best; but i sense progress anyways.

here is a youtube so everyone can enjoy:

The notes are Bb, C, Db on beats 1,2,3. I think hes just alternating 16th notes between those three and an Ab. Then its F,Ab,Bb, to walk back up to the Bb.

Its more about the feel and groove, need to accent the Bb, C, and Db, swing the 16th a bit and syncopate the walk up just right to nail it.

Check out the other acts from the hot wax label, they were pretty short lived, but owned by holland-dozier from motown. Some great recordings.

Hi Tommy Nat,

Thanks for writing that out for me- i will make it my goal this weekend to have it down. Keeping the walking feel while throwing in 16ths is proving to be harder than it sounds.

Any recommendations on other Hot Wax acts? My favorite types of music are funk/disco/soul and I am always looking for something new.

I took another listen, actually I think its:

Bb,G,Bb,G,C,Ab,C,Db,Ab,Db,F,Ab,Bb

It sounds right and easier fingering.
