Request: Tabs for second and third verse of "Smoke on the Water"

Sign in to disble this ad
One of the songs my band covers is "Smoke on the Water". I LOVE playing it, particularly during the solo. However, the guitar pro file that I've used, while doing a great job in currectly tabbing everything else, just repeats the bass line for the first verse for two and three. Anyone who's really listened to the song knows that it's not all the same. Sometimes I just do my own bass lines for the second and/or third but I'd prefer the actual ones. Anyone help me?

This might help! although it might be the same as the Guitar pro file
Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water Bass Tab | Songsterr Guitar Tabs and Chords

There was also the Roger Glover isolated bass track on Youtube at one point, might have been removed, but it is worth looking for it...

You can play the same bass line for all three verses. It's not a big deal. I listened to the song, and there are slight variations to the 2nd and 3rd verses as compared to the first, but nothing that would detract from the song. The verse is a combination of a walking bass line, and octaves, which adds plenty of interest to all three verses.

I think improvising is a great way to make this cover your own. I've played this song before, and I played it both ways, all three verses the same, and improvised when needed. As you mentioned the walking bass line during the solo is money in the bank.
