This may sound like a joke, but how do you play the Peanuts Theme? I want to know so bad and I can't find a tab. And as far as I can tell by ear I would need to loop myself because there's two parts, but maybe I'm wrong.
Does anyone know this song?!

Good question (to me). I've been wondering for months if anyone has ever tackled just the bassline (and it's not as intuitive as it may sound). I've always assumed that when ready, I'd read from the bass clef of a Piano arrangement (which I possess, but have hardly tackled). Not sure how anyone could tackle both the bassline and the melody of this monster-beast classic at same time. :-) Even on keyboards it seems like nearly an impossible goal. :-)

Note - the actual title is "Linus and Lucy," originally composed/performed by Vince Guaraldi. I also love George Winston's performance in tribute to Guaraldi, but Winston has an edgier improvisation.

Edit: This link (if it works) on Active Bass lists bass tablature for Linus and Lucy. http://www.activebass.com/tab/artist.asp?i=371 Not sure if you were interested in the Metallica version. Problem - no "bass tablature" of this title that I can find currently seems to be supported...

Edit: Would love to see two bassists tackle this song in live performance. Michael Manring on a Hyperbassed bassline, with perhaps Jean Beaudin performing the melody on his 11-string...

sorry for bump, but found a tab. This is the "NC" download option for above link. the "CA" link didn't work. http://getsome.org/guitar/olga/bass/..._and_lucy.btab

But after looking at this tab very briefly, it's already apparent that the bassline is simplified from original.

Why would that be a joke? Learning TV themes is a popular and corny way to break the ice with a crowd

If my bandmates are slow to get going at the start of a gig (rare but it's happened) I'll jam through "Darth Vaders' Death March" as they start preparing to play. Gets the odd laugh among the ughs!

bburk - that Bongo performance (bassline plus tapped melody) is awesome. I've seen that player post on this forum. many thanks for correcting me - it's not only possible on a 5-string, it's on video!! Plus he appears to play the more complex version. I love it when I'm wrong like this. :-) I might try to learn the bassline cuz of that video. Edit - and Stu Hamm just kills, in alternate videos of this title. thanks.

No problem, I'm happy to help. And yes, he is a talkbass member.

I tried learning the main theme and it's harder than it looks. I'm not much of a tapper though...
