The basic riff that is on the roots and grooves cd is

---------------
---------2-3-4
-5-0-3-5------
--------------- with ad libbing the 2nd half of each bar

eg - making it up here, this is not what is on the record but hey..
------------------------------I--------------------5-----5
---------2-3-4----------------I----------2-3-4------------
-5-0-3-5------ 0-2-0-3-0-4-0-I-5-0-3-5--------0-3--3-3--
------------------------------I---------------------------

Then the Chorus is all in G7

Easy and a great tune - good luck

You can slap it if you want, but it's a fingerstyle groove, and a dang fat funky one at that.
Slap is like pepper - it makes some things better, but it doesn't make *everything* better.

Don't matter if its slapped or fingerstyle, it's the same notes.

The version above that we cover is a result of listening to the slapped style of one Rodney Skeet Curtis on roots and grooves and I slap it when i play it. The older versions are fingerstyle but it is the same notes and all phunky as pheck.
