Trying to figure out the intro used in kind of blue, wondering if anyone can give me a hint or maybe if someones already transcribed it? I'm having trouble figuring it out. Any help would be awesome.

Here's what I think he plays:

Listen to the track for timing, repetitions, and note volume etc..

PRE-INTRO
g-
d-----6~------7~------5
a-0-7-----0-7-----0-7-
e-----------------

0:12 faster
g-
d-----5--------------5----------------------0
a---7---0-8-0-7-0-8-------7---6---6--\5----5
e-5----------------------5--5---4------------------0

0:29
g- (fast and muffled)
d-------2---1--
a---0-2---2--2-
e-3----------0-

INTRO 0:33 X2
g-----------------/9-7m-------------------
d-----------------------
a-------3-5/7-3-5--------------3-5/7-3-5-0------
e-0-3-5------------------0-3-5-----------------

g----------------------/9--9-9--7--
d----------------------------------7
a-------3-5/7-3-5~-------
e-0-3-5-----------------

1:01 same riff a semitone higher

Here's the correct melody:

G|--------------------------------------------|-------------------------------------------------
D|--------------9---10---12/14---10---12--|---------------9---10---12/14---10---12-------
A|---------12--------------------------------|----------12---------------------------------12-
E|---10--------------------------------------|----10-------------------------------------------

G|--------------------------------------------|------------------------------------------------
D|--------------9---10---12/14---10---12--|---12/14--14--14---12------------------------
A|---------12--------------------------------|---------------------------12-------------------
E|---10--------------------------------------|-------------------------------------------------

You can also play it in this position if you want a different tone:

G|--------------4---5---7/9---5---7----|---------------4---5---7/9---5---7----------------
D|---------7-----------------------------|-----------7---------------------------7-----------
A|---5-----------------------------------|-------5--------------------------------------------
E|----------------------------------------|----------------------------------------------------

G|--------------4---5---7/9---5---7----|---7/9--9--9---7------------------------
D|---------7-----------------------------|--------------------7--------------------
A|---5-----------------------------------|------------------------------------------
E|----------------------------------------|------------------------------------------

Play the first and second half of the melody as the A section. Repeat this. Then play the first half TWICE, and UP a semitone as the B section. Then play both halves just once more for the final A section, and then the trumpet solo begins.

On the record, the bass also joins in the chord 'stabs' with the piano, but you can omit this.

You'll find it in the Feb. 2009 issue of Bass Player(in both tab and notation), with Rocco Prestia on the cover. Great bassline!

I've started transcribing So What a long time ago, but never finished it.
The intro is there though.
