Sweet Home Alabama - (ducking for cover)

Sign in to disble this ad
Well, the inevitable has occurred. After playing for a little while I found a "jam" group to hang with. Now some of the guys are pretending to get serious about getting a few sets together and hitting the local bars.

As long as it gets the girls up I'll play it, so...Sweet Home Alabama. I've found a few guitar pro versions which, at first glance, all seem somewhat similar. I really don't want to have to devote a ton of time to figuring out what to learn for this tune.

Does anyone have a KNOWN accurate transcription. Preferably notation with or without tab.

THANKS

There, that's the whole song.
And once you master this, you have also mastered
"Werewolves of London" and Kid Rock's "All Summer Long."
It's a three-fer!

No problem with the first part but I don't think I'll ever master Jack Daniels Ole No 7.

Thanks to all who mentioned D/C/G. That's a big help (just jokin')

Like I said though, I really don't want to spend time figuring out the riffs which are sprinkled throughout.

That song is nothing you can't fake your way through after listening to it a couple times. There are a few "riffs" here and there. Just improvise them. Close is good enough on some songs. That's one of 'em.

Thanks...I think!

I've been too busy to try and play the song lately....but hopefully I can after work today.

IS it OK to substitute the Jack with real Wiskey? Like CR or Wisers?

Cheers,
BT

Though Lynchburg might be in a dry county, it is NOT a gun control county. Just thought I'd mention that.

You might try convincing your pals to play All Summer Long instead. I'm not wild about the song (not by a fair bit), but we play it, and it packs the floor every time. And it's (technically) not Sweet Home Alabama.

Used to mix lyrics and parts of Werewolves of London and Sweet Home Alabama all together at gigs, into a big dada melt that kept the dance floor whirlin'. Never did find a tab for that...

Hmmm, does no one play the F - C (or F - E) bit then?
It happens twice in the song. not easy to miss ;-)

I've been mixing it up a bit just to keep it interesting (for me). I'll pluck the root and the octave together for awhile or play it on one string for awhile.

Yes, it's mostly D C G - but there are a few subtleties to this song. Besides the part Dave points out the rhythm is different from verse to chorus, the bass has a completely different feel during the solos and there is a thing after the 1st verse and coming out of the 1st solo thats different as well.

I guess you could just D C G all the way through, but it wouldn't sound like the song.
