Tab program for Mac?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi folks,
Noticing the dearth of bass tabs here and thinking that I might want to contribute something occasionally. The only thing I could find for use with a Mac was Tabledit? That was 59.00 bucks.. Anyone know of something free or really cheap? I don't want to spend money just to contribute here every once in a while.
Cheers,
G.

I'm curious too. Haven't been able to find any easy or cheap options, so I just use Word.

Does Word make the lines for the bass strings or do you just type in the fret numbers in rows of 4?

There are a number of good programs for the Mac that do TABS. I have used Macs exclusively since 1986, and I'm in the same boat as you guys.

Here's what I've found. THey're all pretty good, some better than others obviously. But if all you want to do is write out TABS, these will do the trick. Some are free, some aren't.

Guitar Pro - $60.00

Transcribe - $50.00

Tux Guitar - Free

Tux Guitar is very powerful software and does more than just transcribe songs. It works great and is updated frequently. It's also easy to learn to use.
