I was wondering if anyone out there uses software to write out their tabs. I've always used PowerTab, but it hasn't been updated in forever and I've always found it to be a bit clunky. There are others out there I want to try, but before I futz around and install a bunch new software, are there any recommendations for easy to use tablature software?
Free is preferred, but I'd be willing to shell out money for a product that is robust and easy to use. For example, TablEdit seems like a nice piece of software, but if there's something free that's just as good, I don't want to spend $60 bucks on it, know what I mean? I'm looking for something that fits the following requirements:
- Emphasis on keyboard shortcuts (PT falls short here I feel)
- Display in classical notation (not required, but nice to have)
- Support multiple time signatures, specify key, repeats, rests, dotted notes, accellerando/diminuendo etc. (basically anything that might occur in classical notation) Before PT I used something (can't remember the name) that didn't have a mechanism for rests or dotted notes and that annoyed the hell out of me.
I'm capable of writing my own tabs, but I always have to explain the symbols I use to explain slurs, rests, get louder, go quieter, etc, which is where the classical notation comes in. Plus, I'm far faster on a computer than I am hand writing out everything.
