Hey. I took up bass about a month ago, after playing electric guitar for three years. I got a book with a bunch of basic baselines, but now I'm not really getting anywhere. Can anybody suggest some need to know tabs?

I'm highly against tabs. IMO, you should be sticking to sheet music, but to each his own.

Starter bass lines:

12-Bar Blues Progression
Seven Nation Army
Another One Bites The Dust
Sunshine of Your Love
Black Magic Woman
Paranoid/Iron Man/N.I.B.

The last few might be a bit harder, but certainly aren't impossible if you take it slow and practice enough.

Edit: And check this thread. easy songs!

Early Cream is a good intro to bass. "Sunshine of your Love" "White Room" etc.

One of the coolest {I think} songs that was fun on bass and pretty easy was MOby Dick from Zeppelin. You playing from the 3 fret to the 12th. I learned tons of their stuff....another one that has a great walking line and pretty busy on the neck is the lemon song, not sure of your level of playing, but worth learning.

A couple others that I worked on early were Money by Pink Floyd and Daytripper by the Beatles.
