Well, not entirely sure if it belongs in this place, and for that i'm sorry - the forums are over whelming in size.

With most tabs, they come with legends of what symbols mean, and descriptions: just not how to do what the tab requires (or suggests) so i'd like to know how to do the following

hammer-on
pull-off
pre-bend
legato slide
shift slide
natural harmonic
artificial harmonic
tapped harmonic
vibrato
trill
tap
trem. picking
Dead notes (no pitch)
Tap w\plectrum

A lot, I know... sorry... whoever would like to help, it doesn't need to be the whole thing, but the ones in bold i'm most interested in and I found to be a bit more "needy" in learning.

Thanks in advance.

hammer-on (5h7) = fret a note (5) and then slam your finger down on the note above (7), without picking the string again.

pull-off (7p5) = fret 2 notes on the same string eg at the 5th and 7th fret play the 7th, and then pull the string down using your fretting hand, making the 5th fret sound.

pre-bend = bend the string up as far as mentioned (usually a semitone or a tone) and then play it

legato slide = play the 1st note and slide to the next, without repicking the string

shift slide = play the 1st note and then slide to the 2nd and pick the 2nd note again

natural harmonic = place your finger lightly on the string without pushing down above the fret indicated, and pick it, making a ringing note higher than the fretted note would be

artificial harmonic = lots of ways to do this, but usually fretting a note, and use your index finger (on your non-fretting hand) to rest on the string 12 frets (normally) above the fretted note, and play the string with the middle or ring finger of your non fretting hand

tapped harmonic = fret a note and then using your non fretting hand tap and release the string quickly at the indicated fret eg fret 5 and tap 17,

vibrato = vibrate your fretting hand making the string bend slightly up and down.

trill = repeatedly hammer on and pull of between notes. 5h6p5h6p5h6p5h6

tap = use your non fretting hand to push the strings down onto the fretboard.

trem. picking = play a note as fast and constantly as possible

Dead notes (no pitch) = use all the fingers of your fretting hand to mute the string and play it normally.

Tap w\plectrum = use the edge of a pick to tap the string against the fretboard

just a few addons to what slapslappopslap said

dead note (appears as an 'x' on tabs) = when slapping you can use the edge of your slapping hand as well (works well in 'me and my bass guitar')

artificial harmonic = fret the note normally then place you finger either 2,3,4,5,12,16(same as 4),17(same as 2),19(same as 7), 24(same as 5) or even above. although the harmonics on 2 and 17 are the most difficult in my opinion
