Jaco wrote it and it appeared on the album : Heavy Weather by Weather Report!

IMO you need the fingerings to be correct to play this with any amount of the right phrasing. i just took a peak at the link with music / tab and some of the tabbed fingerings arent the best, but it looks pretty close for the most part.

Interesting point about the fingerings, however, no set of fingerings will be perfect or correct for everyone. As long as the notes and durations are correct, people can interpret what fingerings work best for them.

Again, it was a quick job without a bass in hand.

No sheet music required. As long as the tab is correct you can adjust where you want to play a given note.
