Tell Me Something Good - Rufus w/ Chaka Kahn

I have most of this but I'm having trouble with what is played after the decending thing down to the F# in the verse.

Does any one have tab or transcription for this part?

TIA

The timing in this song can be challenging for a band.

The F# part you're talking about has a bass guitar part and a keyboard/clavichord bass part at the same time. I play the keyboard/clavichord part on my bass as it is more of a "bass" part and helps the band keep time better and sound "tighter". The bass guitar is playing "riffs" over the bass keyboard part.

Bass keyboard part:

G-----------------------------------------
D-----2-4------2-4-----2-4--2-4---2-4
A------------------------------------------
E-2-2------2-2-----2-2-----2-----2-----4-2-1

Bass Guitar part (first f# part riff, riff changes each time):

G-------11s13s11-8
D--------------------11-8s4
A--------------------------
E---------------------------4-2-1

Thanks -

Yes the timing on this can be challenging.

I'm OK with the G# to F# decending line during the verse once it starts (It's Probably really a Ab to Gb run) and then the Bb up to Ab mostly chromatic ascending run.

I'm OK with the "Tell Me Something Good ..." Chorus thing.

I'm Still no feeling the timing on the F# (Gb) part. Any clues on how to count it? I guess I'll have to pound through it

The f# part is a 2 bar part.

Q=quarter note, e=eighth note, s =sixteenth note

The low f# is on every beat eg 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4
The e, high f# are sixteenth notes where they occur on the second half of the beat. (+a)

Bass keyboard part:

G--------------------------------------------
D-----2-4-------2-4---------2-4----2-4------2-4
A------------------------------------------------
E-2-2------2-2----------2-2------2-------2----- 4-2-1
--Q-e-s-s--Q-e-s-s-----Q-e-s-s--e-s-s---e--s-s
--1-2-+-a--3-4-+-a-----1-2-+-a--3-+-a--4--+-a

There was a transcription of it in Bass Player a while back, with commentary and help form the bassist who recorded it. Find that, and it'l be a lot more useful than just copping the tab.
