I've been playing for about a year now, and I suck. I've been trying to play these hard songs, and then give up on them after only learning one or two riffs. What are some good songs that teach the basics while still are fun? I can play most of Green Day (mainly American Idiot. They're older stuff is too hard for me, as weird as that sounds.) The hardest song I know how to play would be Minority by Green Day, and I still can't play to the cd... Please me! |

Hendrix - Hey Joe
Cream - Sunshine of your Love and Born Under a Bad Sign
Eric Clapton - Cocaine
George Thorogood - Bad to the Bone
Kinks - You Really Got Me
Lou Reed - Sweet Jane
ZZ Top - Tush
The Who - Can't Explain

Not all songs i especially like but it's better to play something that at least sounds like a song so you can also work on your technique than to keep on getting frustrated since you can't play what you mean to play. |

| | | People are always looking for tabs...one of the best sites I've ever found that has helped me is www.mysongbook.com (over 40,000 tabs) has the guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, vocals, will do about anything but you have to have the Guitar Pro program to see the tabs. It has helped me learn a lot about the bass and music and I've learned many songs in a short time. I buy the bass song books of the groups I like and copy the notes to the program then it will tab it for you, play it for you, you can play along with it....its been a big help for me. Check it out. |

| | | | Try something by Silverchair...their stuff really isn't all that hard and it's also good to warm up on.
Israel's Son
Anthem for the Year 2000
Steam Will Rise
The Closing
Learn to Hate
As for Tool, try learning Stinkfist, it's pretty fun and relatively simple for most of the song. So is Disposition =D

If your looking for something intermediate and fun try Caught in a mosh by Anthrax. It is very fast but its not that hard once you get the speed down and it sounds very cool. |
