I'm sure you're all familiar with this intro, but I have a problem. The strike of the G-string on the 19th fret after 17--16 on the D sounds out of place, and when I play along with the studio version, it seems to fit better without it, but every tab has it on there. How do you guys play it (provided that you play this song)? |

It's probably not right, but it sounds fine. |

It's probably not right, but it sounds fine. | That's how I play it too. It does sound a bit off, but I still prefer to play it that way.

Since getting my ME50B pedal, I've re-introduced the pull-off, it sounds sweet.
The two F#'s played simultaneously are actually notated in my book as "Bass 2" as well

a huge bend and vibrato on the 16th fret A string,
also I do include the pull off on the G.
Robert Truillio dosn't do the pull off live though, dosn't sound right either.

The album has the bass playing with the guitars and holding the low F#'s and Cliff's second bass tone is doing the solo.
The sheet music should not be notated like it is.
It sounds better with the pulloff if you have an effect chain that sound similar to Cliff's setup. If you play it clean, it can sound somewhat strange. That's what I have noticed. |

| | | | I've only been playing for about 3 weeks now but this is the first song I started to learn for two reasons. It was the first song I learned to play drums on and given the number of times I've heard because of that it I figured it would be the most natural for me to learn.
I hate sounding rude (especially being new to bass) but if it doesn't sound right with the pulloff it's probably a technique/timing issue. My band plays this song every once in a while just screwing around and my bass player also has an issue with this because he doesn't practice it. If you're having trouble with it just take it slow at first until you're comfortable with the progression, then play along to the album. It will sound better to you and you'll have a better sense of accomplishment. |
