all sewn up - lucero
and
matchbox - the beatles (among other artists)
girls seen to flock to the floor for that part of the set :-)

+1 to Brown Eyed Girl
Any band I've been in that's played Brown Eyed Girl gets 'em on the floor. And you can usually see the reaction when you play it (I even heard the reaction once!). They turn to their friends and are like "Oh. My. Gawd. I LOVE this song! I haven't heard it in FOREVER! Let's go dance!!!" lol
Also, I saw a friend's 3pc do a version of Fat Bottom Girls from Queen. I s**t you not, every woman in the place went NUTS. I thought the bras were gonna start flying. lol

Also Maroon 5 Moves like Jagger is absolutely killing em for us right now. And surprisingly during our last set of the night we drop a drum heavy version of Free's All Right Now. We have actually had spontaneous congo lines formed that snaked through out the club on this one. Go figure |

Why is it 99% of the time when I see a post from you it is argumentative? Nobody asked about successful. He wants to know what gets the ladies dancing.
To the original poster it depends on the crowd. For a mixed crowd I would suggest R&B, Motown, Funk or Disco. Anything that is the top charts will work. Also MJ or Prince should go over well. The ladies like that stuff and most crowds will go along with it.
If they are mostly young then that stuff may or may not work for you. I would check the top 100 dance songs lists to see what you can pull off.
I've seen some ladies really jump on Crazy Bitch.

| | | | What works for my act...get a couple girls dancing onstage. Risky proposition! Don't let them squash your gear or toes. If they're friends of yours, even better...but...if you can inspire the competitive nature inherent in a group of female humans, they WILL dance, en masse, up front. Also, if you've got the huevos.....a "booty shakin'" competition, in whichever form works best for you/the venue, works fiendishly well. I am a happily married feminist, but... my household is happy largely from the scads of money I bring in using these time-honored techniques with pizzaz and moxy. Happy hunting!

It was merely my opinion and my situation. It would be pretty stupid to argue with classic rock guys about the virtue of playing "Brown Eyed Girl".
Nice to know you are following my posts so closely though.

We have a few attractive female friends we make sure make it to the dance floor but I hadn't thought of bringing them up on stage.

We just try to play the best we can, entertain and please the crowd in front of us. Sweet ladies getting in on tends to help entertain and the please the crowd.
