Question 80's Cover Bands - Recommend a decent fake book

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, I'm a fairly experienced musician looking to start an 80's Cover band to make $$$. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good fake book that I can use to get my musicians started? I'm just looking for lead sheets for reference/form/general harmony.

Please don't tell me that I'm going to have to write it all out for myself, cause that would take many hours that I don't have.

an internet tab, a good ear, and practice is all i need

in general covering songs isn't too difficult, what kind of 80s music are you looking to cover?

It isn't the difficulty of music that I'm worried about (I'm currently fronting another group that covers Brecker, Weather Report, and Mahavishnu tunes, so most of the people I work with know their stuff). What I am worried about is having the parts there so that we can "fake" if necessary (ie. for requests)

I'm looking to hire musicians familiar enough with the music to be able to work their own parts out. I'm trying to make this as easy as possible for the people I'm hiring. I want the rehearsals to be lubed up as possible. That way, when I bring in a new tune, we read it down, see how it goes, and then the boys take their rehearsal CD and shed their parts. I just don't want to have to take the time to write out an outline for every tune. I have already written about 20 lead sheets out for the group.

We're looking to play Van Halen, Duran Duran, Prince, Styx, Michael Jackson, The Vapors, etc.
