There's so much good 90's material to pick from I can't see how it wouldn't work. I did the 90's cover band thing for a bunch of years and it was a great time. Look into some of the b-side material too instead of all the standard beat to death 90's stuff. There's a bunch of good Pearl Jam and Goo Goo Dolls stuff that goes over very well that doesn't get killed by radio.... songs that are familiar to a crowd but not a staple of every FM radio setlist.

It might be region, or lack of vision. Or it may be that people have a different view of what is danceable. To me, if it gets a crowd up and moving, it's danceable. I've done 'non-danceable' songs like Man In The Box, Killing In the Name Of, What I Got, The Rooster, Guerilla Radio, Plush, etc. that totally got the crowd going and filled the dance floor. They weren't doing the electric slide to it, but they were still getting into none-the-less.

And there's alot of stuff that is danceable from that era that is not R&B or HipHop, but it's different. Two Princes, Semi Charmed Life, Crazy B***h, What I Got, When I Come Around, etc. all fill the dance floor and chicks seem to dig it, but they aren't going to be dancing all disco like they would for I Will Survive (especially if it's the Cake version).

There was a lot of good music made in the 90's. AIC, Sound Garden, Pearl Jam, Rem, RHCP, FNM, DMB, Smashing Pumpkins, Sublime.......

It probably will work.

Will all of it work, probably not.

Will it work everywhere, probably not.

I have played so many of the songs mentioned in this thread and if you're booking yourself in the right venues, they're hugely popular - not to mention a lot of fun. Some of the songs that I've been most pleasantly surprised by that I've seen mentioned in here -

Plowed
In The Meantime
Bound for the Floor
Song 2
Semi-Charmed Life
Plush
Man in the Box
Flagpole Sitta
Freak of the Week
