next sat (dec 28), two thirds of my band are gonna be playing a show...the thing is, it is just me and the guitarist, unplugged, no drums, no distortion...and im not even gonna be playing bass, me and him are both going to be playing guitar... is there any good way i can prep for a drastic change like this...or do i just have to prep for it like any other show?

I did the same just a month ago....went from a 6-piece band to just the guitarist playing an acoustic and me. I played both bass and acoustic guitar with him. What we did was to try and carefully chose the songs and make arrangements that are suited to this format, then practice it until we had it down. Audience loved it.

I like to be able to play songs on both bass and guitar.

I say sit down with the guys you're going to be playing with, in the setup you'll be playing in, and have at it for a few hours. You should be fine.
